The weather is finally starting to cool down, and we thought we would take advantage by holding an outdoor movie night for our students and families! With the help of Code 3 Organization, we watched Vivo, a musical comedy written by Lin Manuel Miranda and provided brought popcorn and other movie-theatre snacks. Thank you to Code 3 and everyone who joined us for a fun night!
NTP student Messiah loved showing his math tutor Charles all of the free learning materials he got from the Back-to-School FLOCfest! At first, Messiah was a little overwhelmed with how big the books were, but Charles assured him that they would work their way through the books together. They mapped out their learning goals for the semester and talked about how they could work towards achieving them. With a team like this, we’re confident they can achieve anything!
Brandelyn's Book Buddies
Congratulations to Arsema, Roza, and Eliyah on being selected for Brandelyn’s October Book Buddies. This month’s buddies are even more special because it’s National Reading Month! Each of them took part in FLOC’s Book Project over the summer. They participated in book discussions and reviews with other students and even learned how to make a website for their book reviews. This month’s book was Ways to Make Sunshine by Renee Watson which tells the story of a young girl who learns to navigate life’s challenges and lessons while seeking out the good in everything and everyone around her. We hope it inspires our students as much as it inspired us!
Halloween is coming up and we want to see your costumes!. Send us in pictures of your students dressed up and they might be featured on FLOC’s social media! Photos can be sent to FLOC’s Development Communications Manager, Morgan Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org.
