December Family Newsletter

FLOC Families,

Can you believe Fall semester is already over? Where does the time go! We are so proud of our students for all of their hard work this semester and can’t wait to see what the Spring brings.

Student Holiday Party

We had a great time celebrating with our students during our Virtual Student Holiday Party. We have to give a big thank you to Shena Jefferson, owner of Jefferson Bakes, for teaching us how to decorate three adorable holiday cookies. It was a great way to end our Fall semester and reward our students for an incredible year. Shena even sent us a message afterwards and told us how impressed she was with how seriously our students took their decorating. I am especially proud to see how our students continue to show up and give us their all. We work with some really fantastic kids!

Meet the team!

Leif Jackson is FLOC’s newest team member, but she has actually been a part of FLOC for over 10 years…

“I am a D.C. native and senior at Trinity Washington University where I am majoring in Human Relations. I participated in FLOC programs for 11 years and received tutoring, mentoring, and college preparation. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to re-join FLOC as a Program Coordinator.”

We are so glad to have Leif work part-time for FLOC while she finishes her post-secondary degree!

Looking Ahead

It’s almost the New Year! Send us in pictures of your students and what their New Year’s Resolutions are and they could be featured on FLOC’s social media!  Photos can be sent to FLOC’s Development Communications Manager, Morgan Roberts at mroberts@floc.org.
