Summer Quarantine Activities!

For many of us, July marks close to 4 months that we’ve been in quarantine and unfortunately it doesn’t look like things will be going back to normal anytime soon. Here at FLOC, we’ve come up with a list of activities you can enjoy with your family while following social distance guidelines, as well as a list of Black-owned businesses that are open for carry-out and delivery in D.C. for those nights when you just can’t make another home-cooked meal.

Theodore Roosevelt Island
The 88-acre park in the Potomac is ideal for families who want to practice some social distancing in the company of nature

Potomac Overlook Park
Though it’s summer programs have been canceled, the park’s 67 acres of wild and cultivated land remain open to the public.

Constitution Gardens
The gardens sit alongside the reflecting pool in the National Mall as a natural-world tribute to the U.S. Constitution.

Gravelly Park
Located along the George Washington Parkway, this is the perfect place to sit and watch the planes take off from Reagan International Airport as you enjoy a nice picnic outdoors with your family!

Rock Creek Park
Described as a “gem in our nation’s capital ,” this park offers visitors the opportunity to escape the bustle of the city and find a peaceful refuge, recreation, fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals, and thousands of years of human history.

Drive-In Movie Theatre
Near Baltimore and about an hour from Washington, DC, Bengies Drive-In boasts of the biggest movie theater in the country.
