Happy National Reading Month! FLOC’s Annual All-Star Read-a-Thon has officially begun, and this year we are challenging each of our students to read at least 15 minutes every day. In addition, FLOC will be raising $5,000 over the month of March to provide an online library system for our students, giving them access to thousands of books free of charge at the touch of their fingertips!

FLOC Student Jasmine has been busy reading for FLOC’s All-Star Read-a-Thon. Just last week she read Taco Queen, Slime in Space, and an article during FLOC program about square bees in Minecraft with her tutor, Maya. We love seeing our students get so excited about reading and build healthy habits that will impact them for life! CLP Update
In honor of Women’s History Month, we asked our students who their female role-model is. FLOC student Arsema told us her mom was her role model.
“My mom was an Olympic runner for Ethiopia way back in the day. She stopped running to raise me and my brother and my sister. My mother has over 70 trophies back in Ethopia-the first time I went to visit, our whole living room was filled with the trophies she had won!”
