On Thursday, November 12, For Love of Children is celebrating its 55th Anniversary.  To show our appreciation for your support over the years, we held a special virtual celebration.

FLOC began in 1965 as a radical commitment to DC’s children and youth. In the words of FLOC’s founder and first Executive Director, Fred Taylor, “FLOC was created to help cultivate, promote, push, and serve a city of cohesive neighborhoods in which every child and every family is known and valued and has access to the resources they need to thrive.”

Since then, FLOC has served more than 10,000 children and has become one of the most respected nonprofits in the community. Today, 13 staff and over 300 volunteers serve nearly 600 DC students per year, providing educational services beyond the classroom to help students succeed from first grade through college and career. FLOC brings together students, volunteers, families, and community partners in proven programs that teach, empower, and transform.

You can make your radical commitment with a gift to our Radical Commitment Fund to support our students.
