FLOC Awards Dinner 2019

On Wednesday, June 19th, FLOC celebrated our high school and college graduates at our annual Awards Dinner presented by JBG Smith. This year, the dinner was hosted at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery. The night began with a delicious dinner that led into our keynote speaker, Rasheeda, who is a parent of FLOC students as well as a Case Manager/Program Officer for Bethany, Inc. Her wise words of wisdom were the perfect way to honor our graduates.

We then honored our first ever Community Champion, Ed Woods, President of TerpSys and long time supporter of FLOC. Ed began our laptop bank for our seniors which has allowed each of our graduating seniors to receive a laptop to take with them to college. He came up with the idea while at an annual fundraiser for FLOC many years ago. He shared how he was looking for a way to do more and wanted to come up with a way to help our students even beyond the Fred Taylor Scholarship.

Finally, we honored our graduates with a processional to acknowledge each student, from our scholarship and laptop recipients, to our college graduates. We are so proud of all that our students have already accomplished and can’t wait to see where the road will take them, but we hope they know the road can always lead them back home to FLOC.
