On Wednesday, June 12, FLOC celebrated its high school graduates and their families at the annual Fred Taylor Scholarship Dinner. The following speech was written and delivered by Post-secondary Scholar Jazmin.
Recently, FLOC had the opportunity to share an evening with some of our favorite people. Staff members joined with volunteers, community partners, and students and their families for our eighth annual Recognition Event and Empower Awards.
Starting at midnight tonight, for one day only FLOC will be partnering with the United Way of the National Capital Area and hundreds of other area nonprofits to inspire and encourage our community to give where we live for Do More 24.
On May 1, 2013, For Love of Children hosted our annual “Beyond the Classroom” Fundraising Luncheon. Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, partners and students gathered at the Renaissance Hotel to enjoy a delicious meal and respond to the call to action to support FLOC programs.

In the middle of December and, for many college students, the middle of final exams, FLOC’s middle school and high school students (and their parents) flocked to the GeorgeWashingtonUniversity’s CloydHeckMarvinCenter for our sixth annual College Night.
It was an afternoon that was aptly named, a real celebration of children’s books. On Saturday, November 17th, right after the weekly Saturday afternoon reading tutoring program, over 80 students, family members, volunteers, and staff gathered for the 6thannual FLOC Children’s Book Festival.
