NTP Update
This past month, FLOC partnered with CultureShockNGO, YMCA Anthony Bowen, and Elements Urban Arts Collective to offer FLOC’s NTP students introductory hip-hop dance culture workshops. FLOC students spent two hours outside, socially distanced, learning the basics of hip-hop and enjoying the great weather. FLOC loves being able to work with great local organizations to benefit our students.
JBG SMITH CLP Update
FLOC’s JBG SMITH City Leader’s students have been working hard with their coaches to prepare for the SAT and PSAT. FLOC student Kyia says the hardest part is being on a time crunch. Even problems she knows how to answer become difficult as the pressure of the timed test gets to her. That’s why FLOC coaches facilitate timed practice tests with their students and take the time to go over questions they get wrong-so when the time comes to take the real test, FLOC students are ready!
Student Story
When FLOC NTP student Jan began his math tutoring last semester, he started out on level 4. He has since passed levels 5, 6, and 7, meaning he will be moving on to the second half of FLOC’s core-aligned math curriculum! On average, FLOC students advance one grade level in just 28 hours of tutoring. We are so proud of you Jan, keep up the great work!
