July 2022 Family Newsletter

FLOC Families,

We hope you’ve been enjoying the summer! At FLOC, we welcomed back students for our hybrid summer program. Students have been showing up to every session and are eager to learn. Our Programs Team has also been working one-on-one with some students to improve their reading comprehension, spelling, and sentence structure skills!

WILSON READING HIGHLIGHTS

Jaymie and Kurtis join us each week for one-on-one Wilson reading sessions where they practice spelling, pronunciation of different words, and recognizing digraphs. In one of Kurtis’ sessions, he used the mini whiteboard to draw cartoons and write stories that were associated with each of the words he was learning. Jaymie learned how to recognize vowel sounds. She always likes to end her tutoring sessions with a word-guessing game.

Virtual Tutoring Highlights

One of our students, Langston, wasn’t feeling too well. Despite that, he still showed up to virtual math tutoring in great spirits!

After resting all day and eating dino nuggets, he said he was feeling a lot better and ready to learn. Langston tried out a few math problems and showed off the healing nuggets to Ashley and Leif from our Programs Team.
