What are your volunteer opportunities?<\/strong>
\nWe have one-on-one tutoring in math and reading, small group coaching in SAT\/PSAT Prep and one-on-one coaching in College Prep.<\/p>\n

What is the time commitment?<\/strong>
\nEach program operates once a week for 2 hours for a total of 60 hours over 30 weeks during the school year and 12 total hours over 6-week summer academy.<\/p>\n

What is the application process?<\/strong>
\nVolunteers are asked to complete an online application, complete a background check via provided link, attend a volunteer orientation, receive a start date and begin making a difference! Apply to be a tutor\/coach<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

What can volunteers expect?<\/strong>
\nInitial training on curriculum and expectations, ongoing professional development opportunities, support from FLOC staff during and outside of program.<\/p>\n

Can I volunteer in more than one program?<\/strong>
\nAbsolutely! We encourage you to volunteer in as many programs as you have time. You will have a different student in each program unless the same student participates in multiple programs and you would like to continue with that student.<\/p>\n

Do I need to be familiar with college access?<\/strong>
\nNo, we provide all materials needed to guide students through the college access process. In addition, orientation will expose you to the layout of the program. Most students are in need of a dedicated person to guide and support them through the process.<\/p>\n

Do I need to have a college degree?<\/strong>
\nNo, we welcome volunteers from various backgrounds. Student volunteers must be 16 years of age or older and provide a transcript.<\/p>\n

What is the difference between a tutor and a coach?
\n<\/strong>Tutors volunteer in our Neighborhood Tutoring Program (NTP) and coaches volunteer in our SAT Prep and College Access program (College and Career Readiness).<\/p>\n

What is the difference between a sub and a tutor?
\n<\/strong>Subs and tutors make the same time commitment (once per week for 2 hours). Subs sign up to work with different students from week to week based on which students are in need. Tutors sign up to be paired to a student with whom they will work with for the duration of the school year or summer.<\/p>\n

When can I start?<\/strong>
\nVolunteers may start once the application process is completed.<\/p>\n
