{"id":2255,"date":"2016-04-01T07:12:33","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T07:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/floc.s482.sureserver.com\/?p=2255"},"modified":"2016-09-22T07:14:45","modified_gmt":"2016-09-22T07:14:45","slug":"floc-madness-is-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/floc.org\/flocold2020\/floc-madness-is-here\/","title":{"rendered":"FLOC Madness is here!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FLOC Madness is a yearly volunteer donor campaign run by the FLOC Champions Network.\u00a0 It is organized as a friendly competition between volunteers (organized by program), with prizes (often from local businesses) and recognition (aka bragging rights) awarded to the winning team.\u00a0 <strong>The winning team is the one with the highest participation rate.<\/strong>\u00a0 FLOC Madness typically runs for 2-4 weeks with routine updates to volunteers via email.\u00a0 Donation is easy and can be done <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkforgood.org\/donation\/MakeDonation.aspx?ORGID2=526064548\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a> (note your program in the \u201cDedication\u201d box) or in person <a href=\"http:\/\/floc.org\/news\/floc-madness-here#FAQ\">(see FAQs below)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All donations are tax deductible and any amount is welcome!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness encourages volunteer giving to specifically raise the FLOC volunteer donor participation rate because volunteer giving is important for FLOC.\u00a0 The metric is important as FLOC seeks funding and support for its programs.\u00a0 It\u2019s persuasive and empowering for an organization like FLOC to be able to tout not only its number of volunteers and the amount of hours volunteered, but also to be able to share that many volunteers donate to FLOC.\u00a0 A strong volunteer donor participate rate sends a powerful message that FLOC\u2019s volunteers are committed\u2026that FLOC is an organization worth investing in.<\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness began in 2014.\u00a0 During the first campaign we raised the volunteer donor participation rate to 25% from 10%; volunteers gave $2,895.\u00a0 For FLOC Madness 2015 the volunteer donor participation rate unfortunately fell to approximately 13%; volunteers gave $1,635.\u00a0 For each FLOC Madness Campaign, the FLOC Board has generously matched all donations, thereby doubling the amounts given by volunteers.<\/p>\n<p><u>FLOC Madness 2016<\/u><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness 2016 runs from Friday, April 1 through Saturday, April 30. <strong>\u00a0For this year\u2019s campaign we\u2019d like to raise the volunteer donor participation rate to 30%.\u00a0 <\/strong>It\u2019s a big goal but FLOC and its volunteers are accustomed to taking on big goals and achieving them.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkforgood.org\/donation\/MakeDonation.aspx?ORGID2=526064548\" target=\"_blank\">Make your donation<\/a> today \u2013 small or large, either is welcome \u2013 to help us meet our 30% goal!<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"FAQ\"><\/a><u>FLOC Madness FAQs<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is FLOC Madness?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness is an annual volunteer giving program run by the FLOC Champions Network.\u00a0 FLOC Madness encourages volunteer giving.\u00a0 This is the third year of FLOC Madness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does FLOC Madness or volunteer giving help FLOC?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, your donation goes toward FLOC programs and administration, all of which helps FLOC\u2019s students and scholars.\u00a0 Just as important is that your donation looks good for FLOC when it approaches organizations and individuals for donations and other support.\u00a0 It is very positive and powerful when an organization\u2019s volunteers are involved not only by giving time, but are also so engaged that they donate money.\u00a0 Your donation shows donors and supporters (such as foundations and local businesses) that FLOC has strong support and that its volunteers are committed.\u00a0 This show of strong support and commitment makes it more likely for these entities to donate (or to become involved in volunteering too!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who runs the FLOC Madness Campaign?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The FLOC Madness Campaign is run by a group of volunteers (called the FLOC Champions Network) who\u2019ve expressed interest in or have been identified by FLOC staff as being interested in working with FLOC staff on improving volunteer engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long is FLOC Madness?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness is usually a month-long giving campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How often does FLOC Madness happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness happens every year, generally around the time of the NCAA\u2019s March Madness Tournament after which it is modeled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When is 2016 FLOC Madness Campaign?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLOC Madness 2016 will begin on Friday, April 1, 2016 and end on Saturday, April 30, 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was volunteer participation before FLOC Madness?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When FLOC Madness began in 2014, volunteer donor participation was only around 10%.\u00a0 FLOC Madness 2014 raised the participation rate to 25%.\u00a0 For FLOC Madness 2015, unfortunately, the volunteer participation rate fell to about approximately 13%. \u00a0For FLOC Madness 2016, we\u2019d love to reclaim our 25% rate and even exceed that with 30% volunteer donor participation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How much money have the FLOC Madness Campaigns raised?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the 2014 Campaign, the volunteer donors gave $2,895; in the 2015 Campaign, volunteer donors gave $1,635.<\/p>\n<p>For each Campaign, the FLOC Board matched volunteer donations dollar-for-dollar so that the total amount raised by volunteers was doubled and then donated to FLOC: $5,790 (2014) and $3,270 (2015).<\/p>\n<p>There will be dollar-for-dollar matching for FLOC Madness 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I have to participate\/donate?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No, you do not.\u00a0 Participation in FLOC Madness is totally optional and is targeted at <strong><u>volunteers only<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 Students and scholars are not being asked to nor required to make donations.\u00a0 Matching donations from volunteers\u2019 places of work are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>If a volunteer knows of a company that wants to make a separate donation or is otherwise interested in supporting FLOC, please reach out to FLOC\u2019s Director of\u00a0Development, Latoyia Allen (<a href=\"mailto:lallen@floc.org\">lallen@floc.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is a minimum donation required?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Online limitations require a minimum donation of $10 <strong><u>but<\/u><\/strong> you can give <strong><em>any amount in person<\/em><\/strong> using cash or a check.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I give money in person?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You give money in person by putting cash or a check in an envelope with your name and your program\u2019s name on it and handing that envelope to your Site Coordinator.\u00a0\u00a0 You may also reach out to the FLOC Champions (<a href=\"mailto:champions@floc.org\">champions@floc.org<\/a>) to coordinate your in-person donation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I already donated to FLOC this year but not during FLOC Madness.\u00a0Will it count?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve already given then please let the FLOC Champions know by emailing us at <a href=\"mailto:champions@floc.org\">champions@floc.org<\/a> so that your donation is counted toward this campaign and toward calculating volunteer participation.\u00a0 If you prefer, you may also email Latoyia (<a href=\"mailto:lallen@floc.org\">lallen@floc.org<\/a>) with this information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I help with FLOC Madness 2016?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Encourage your fellow volunteers to donate!
