For the 2018-19 school year, the theme was Food Justice. Throughout the program, students explore ways to positively impact their neighborhood and community while working towards completing a capstone project.<\/p>\n<p>Students earn community service hours and acquire the skills necessary to become leaders in their neighborhoods and communities. Professional coaches lead students in projects that are designed for students to engage both their peers and community. These projects often take advantage of FLOC\u2019s connections with local universities, cultural institutions, businesses, and other organizations, and open young minds to the wider world around them.<\/p>\n<div><\/div><\/div>\n<div id=\"tab2\" class=\"tab-content\">\n<p>Once per week, 12th grade students work one-on-one with college and career readiness coaches to complete college applications, fill out FAFSA forms, and identify relevant scholarship opportunities. Students also work on career exploration and workforce development to ensure that students are prepared to transition out of high school no matter what path they choose.<\/p>\n<p>100% of City Leaders Program students graduate from high school.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"tab3\" class=\"tab-content\">\n<p>Once per week, students in 10th through 12th grade have the opportunity to work with SAT Prep tutors in small groups to strengthen their understanding of critical SAT components. Program participants take a number of mock SAT exams in preparation for the exams proctored by The College Board. Students are matched with trained tutors that guide them through test-taking skills and major SAT concepts.<\/p>\n<p>SAT courses are offered through a partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/prepmatters.com\/\">Prep Matters<\/a>. FLOC can also assist families with applying for SAT test fee waivers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<div style=\"margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;\" class=\"separator transparent  \"><\/div>\n<section class='content_section  in_menu' data-title='POSTSECONDARY SCHOLARS' id='post_school' style='background-color:#f1f1f1;'>\n<h2>POSTSECONDARY SCHOLARS<\/h2>\n<div style=\"margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;\" class=\"separator transparent  \"><\/div>\n<div class=\"two_columns_66_33 clearfix\"><div class=\"column1\"><div class=\"column_inner\">\n<p class=\"text\">Academic and career challenges do not end with high school, and neither do FLOC programs. Students enrolled in the City Leaders Postsecondary Program continue to receive support and guidance as they navigate their college or vocational school experience.
