Currently, she serves DC Students as the Executive Director of For Love of Children, an education nonprofit in the city. She has over 20 years of experience in youth education and afterschool programming beginning her career at Stiles Hall, a community nonprofit, serving Bay Area students in Berkeley, CA. Upon moving east, Brandelyn served four years at the Thurgood Marshall Academy overseeing the school supplemental and after-school programs as their Director of Programs. In addition to her professional career, Brandelyn has published 4 books and has been featured in several anthologies. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and actively participates in community service programs in the district. Trynita believes that children have the ability to soar beyond our wildest dreams as long as we show up for them; often saying that the greatest pleasures in life is to smile, laugh and love. She has created youth literacy programs in income based housing communities, created a life skills course for at-risk teen girls and assisted in creating experience based programming in local schools dominated by low income children. She began her career at Virginia Commonwealth University in undergraduate research programs where she helped place students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds in research internships in Richmond, VA, and across the country. Staying at VCU, she also went on to work in Student Programming and Conference Services. In 2015, Mary moved back home to Northern Virginia to work at Northern Virginia Community College in their Educational Foundation. She worked with alumni and fundraised for scholarships and other major college projects. She eventually moved on to Destinations International Foundation where she spent a year as their Senior Manager of Foundation Development. She has a BA in History from George Mason University and an M.Ed in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California.
